NT Server, Unix DNS, NT Clients...HELP!!!!!!

Post by Bernd Pfei » Thu, 04 Jun 1998 04:00:00

Hello , is there anybody out there...

This is our problem:
Our Network runs on Windows NT, and a Unix Computer serves as DNS under
192.168.0.3.
The NT Server is connected with two Ethernet cards to our HUPs.
See table below for more details...
It is possible to connect with "other computers" to the Unix DNS and the
Internet.
With "Problem Computer" it is possible to PING the NT Server with the IP
Adresses 192.168.0.100 and 192.168.0.101.

PING 192.168.0.3 from "Problem Computer" doesnt work (timeout)
Ping 192.168.0.4 ( IP adress "Problem Computer") from NT Server to "Problem
Computer" works.
Ping 192.168.0.3 from NT Server to Unix is doing fine.....

PROBLEM: The "Problem Computer" doesnt find the DNS Unix Machine and
therefore cant connect to www.

See below for a drawing and an overview of active routes of the server and
the "prob computer"
Does anyone know whats wrong or whats missing?
Does anyone know how to build a "bridge" ?? from Prob Computer to DNS Unix
Machine?

If you have any hints or solutions please let me know...

P.S. I allready read the f..ng manuals but our problem wasn`t described at
all.
