ipfwadm -c syntax?

Post by Dan Crows » Tue, 11 Mar 1997 04:00:00

After having read the man for ipfwadm,  I still can't
figure out the syntax for the -c check-rules option.  I'm trying
the following (with no luck):

ipfwadm -F -c -P tcp -V -W eth1 -S 23
  -D X.X.X.X 23

This returns a

ipfwadm: setsockopt failed: Invalid argument error

Thanks for the help,

1. ipfwadm -W syntax

I can't seem to get the syntax right for the -W arguement of ipfwadm.

RH 5.0, stock.

I use a dynamic ip, and it seems from the docs that I should be able to

ipfwadm -I -a deny -P tcp -W <my ppp device> <service to deny>

But I get an "Unknown command line arguement" error.  I've tried
/dev/ppp0 and ppp0 and various combinations of placement on the command

I know I can do the same thing with hosts.[allow, deny] and tcpwrappers.
This just seemed elegant.  And now I'm curious.  Next step will be the
source code.
