I'm considering buying two D-link 530 TX e-cards, has anybody had problems
with this hardware ?
They are supposed to be 100% ne-2000 compatible.

I have two dual-boot (Win98SE/RH 7.1) systems. One has a
D-Link 530TX+ card, (rtl8139 driver) which works well in both OS.
The other has the 530TX, which works fine in Windows but is
very erratic in Linux -- sometimes it works, sometimes it
doesn't. It's set up with the proper via-rhine driver, but the
driver must be deeply flawed. ifconfig often shows that it has
failed to probe the card properly and the MAC address is shown as
all zeroes.
So two questions:
1. Is there somewhere a better via-rhine driver?
2. I've tried to buy another 530TX+ card but they seem to
have disappeared from the marketplace. The replacement I've been
offered is the 538TX. Anyone using this successfully with RH
7.1? What driver does it use?
TIA.
