linux 1.3.41/1.3.37 + ppp2.2.0c

linux 1.3.41/1.3.37 + ppp2.2.0c

I experienced a strange problem while attempting to use ppp-2.2.0c
with linux kernel 1.3.41, so i downgraded my kernel to 1.3.37, rebuilt
everything and am still having the same problems. It seems that when i
dial into my ISP, the ppp link *appears* to have set up properly,
however the ip-up script does not execute (indicating to me that the
link really didnt finish setting up), and I can only ping my ISP's
computers, whereas pings to other systems fail. This would seem to be
a routing problem, but I can telnet/ftp to any remote system, even if
the ping fails, and i am using the exact same routing commands i used
on the previous kernel/ppp package i was using. A chunk of my log
files follows...

I have no idea what "no data (EWOULDBLOCK)" means, and there appear
to be too many ProtRej's and ConfNak's ... While recording this log
file the bsd_comp module was loaded, but i get the same result when it
is not loaded, or is loaded in conjunction with the dummy module. If
it is of any help, i also have ethernet. Any help in this matter would
be *greatly* appreciated.

1. Segmentation fault while compiling kernel 1.3.37 and ppp2.2.0d

Hi all,

I'm having problem trying to complile kernel 1.3.37 and ppp2.2.0d on my
system. I am currently running kernel 1.2.8 and would like to upgrade to
kernel 1.3.37

Here's the error message when 'make zImage' aborts:

....
....
make[1]: *** [kernel.o] Segmentation fault
make[1]: *** Deleting file 'kernel.o'
make[1]: *** [linuxsubdirs] Error 2

If you know the causes of these problems, I would appreciate your help.

Thanx in advance.

PS. (I've compiled and re-compilred it many times....<sigh> )
