smbfs mounts give "Input/output error" after a while in 2.2.2

Post by Brian McCaule » Sat, 20 Mar 1999 04:00:00

I'm running SuSE 6.0 (that's a glibc2 + 2.0.36 based dirstribution)
manually upgraded to Samba 2.0.2 and kernel 2.2.2.

The perverse new smbmount seems to work initially.

However after about half an hour of inactivity the shares seem to stop
working.

It is as though the client automatic reconnect to server after timeout
is not working.

A dejanews search seems to imply I'm the only person suffering from
this.

Is this true?

Anyone got any ideas how I can debug this.

1. Mounted HFS partition giving "input/output error"s

Hi everybody,

I installed LinuxPPC (kernel 2.2.6) on a Blue and White G3 (400) a while
ago and have been using it as my main computer. I have a really nice 18g
scsi harddrive with a big HFS partition on it, everything worked fine
until recently for no reason i can see, it stopped working correctly.
Basically, i can't add files/directories. I can move things around from
dir to dir if it is already on the drive, but i can't put data onto the
hfs partition.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
