Compiling Beta NFS for Slackware 2.3 Linux 1.2.13

Post by Paul Matthew » Sat, 19 Aug 1995 04:00:00

Hi, Olaf,

I downloaded nfs-server-2.2beta5.tar.gz from your
ftp.mathematik.th-darmstadt.de archive since you posted this information on the
news group. I have not been able to get it to compile; any suggestions?

My problem is specifically the following message from a "make" command:

Quote:> cd . && autoheader
> /bin/sh: autoheader: command not found
> make: *** [config.h.in] Error 127

Where would I get "autoheader"? and what is it?

Thanks,

Autoheader is part of the GNU autoconf package.  When installing autoconf
please make shure that you have an uptodate version of GNU M4 installed, too.

1. trouble compiling linux 1.2.13 (slackware 3.0)

Could someone please help with a compile problem. After I installed
linux from the linux 3.0 distribution I decided to recompile to add
sound. All appears to go well until I do " make zdisk "

I get errors that I can't seem to resolve.

gcc: Internal compiler error: program cc1 got fatal signal 11
make [1]: *** [printk.o] Error 1
make [1]: Leaving directory ` /usr/src/linuxelf-1.2.13/kernel`
make : *** [linuxsubdirs] Error 2

I get these errors everytime I try to compile. The only line of the
error that appears to be consistant is the first .... gcc: Internal
compiler error.
The remaining lines seem to change with each attempt at compiling the
kernal. They sometime show [sys.o] Error 1 and sometimes its some other
.o It always shows the [linuxsubdirs] Error 2

One time it completed the " make zdisk " and when I booted the new
kernal All I got was : unable to load module
                       kernel 1.2.13 doesn't match keranl 1.2.13

Also the amount of memory the system was reporting was incorrect. It
showed 16 meg and I have 32 meg of ram. At this point I don't know what
to do. I've tried complete reinstalls of the operating system and it
doesn't help.

Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated.
