keep dhcpd from asking new address after disconnect

keep dhcpd from asking new address after disconnect

Post by Jado » Wed, 23 Oct 2002 06:56:12

Hi
I am running a wireless laptop that occasionally drops the connection
on a service that requires me to login to use.  The problem is that
when it disconnects, I cannot login again until the server has
"dumped" my previous login info (about 15min)
I have been told by the isp that I need to setup dhcpd so that it
"does not request a new address". Evidently this keep me from login in
again as it thinks I am logged under one ip and suddenly I come in on
a new one. Question is...this is a bit beyond me. What do I need to do
to set this up?   I am running Slackware 8.1, linux  2.4.18 with
Internet Software Consortium DCHP Server V3.0pl1.

Thanks for any help or suggestions,

Joshua

1. PPPD keeps disconnecting...

Hi

I have Zyxel ISDN (external) and linux 2.0.35 (SuSE 5.3) as server
and Win98 as client. When the server is connected to my ISP
by PPPD the connection seems to work fine. However, occasionally
the pppd hangs-up the modem (SIGHUP) eventhough I am actively
using the net. ( So it is most probably not time-out problem ).

The problem seems to take place  when I make an WWW connections
from the client ( not always however ). First the browser freezes ( no
data coming from the internet ) and soon the connection hangs up.
This could happen even if I am downloading something from the
internet with FTP on the server at the same time.

I use masquerading and I have also tested it with squid.

Can anyone help me with this proble?
