It would be wise for them to be on different subnets, but if needed they can
exist on the same subnet. The only thing to watch out for is the routing
table as there will be two entries for how packets will get to the local
network. You may want to remove one of the routes in this case. Of course,
if you wanted multiple IP's to be handled on the same network, you could use
IP Aliasing where you can place a number of IP's on the same network card.

Commonly, you wouldn't want this to happen and it isn't really allowed. Each
card normally has its own address, however there may be some approaches out
there which you can use to "bond" the two cards together to aggregate the
incoming bandwidth.
