Weird /var/log/kernel messages

Post by Secx » Mon, 24 Apr 2000 04:00:00

I'm running ipchains on 2.2.14 kernel in my /var/log/kernel file I
have the following:

Apr 23 04:08:54 thor kernel: Packet log: output REJECT eth0 PROTO=17
24.200.68.144:138 24.200.68.255:138 L=234 S=0x00 I=39622 F=0x00
00 T=64 (#13)
Apr 23 04:09:54 thor kernel: Packet log: output REJECT eth0 PROTO=17
24.200.68.144:137 24.200.68.255:137 L=78 S=0x00 I=39626 F=0x000
0 T=64 (#12)
Apr 23 04:14:54 thor kernel: Packet log: output REJECT eth0 PROTO=17
24.200.68.144:137 24.200.68.255:137 L=78 S=0x00 I=39634 F=0x000
0 T=64 (#12)
Apr 23 04:19:54 thor kernel: Packet log: output REJECT eth0 PROTO=17
24.200.68.144:137 24.200.68.255:137 L=78 S=0x00 I=39640 F=0x000
0 T=64 (#12)

24.200.68.144 is my external IP, the messages just keep repeating
themselves, anyone what they are or how to disable them ?

Thanks

These are your masqueraded windoze systems crying out pitifully for
other members of their tribe. I eliminate these annoying messages by
having this rule early in the forward chain:

        ipchains -A forward -p UDP --dport netbios-ns:netbios-ssn -j DENY
