1. connecting linux box to sparc..what am i doing wrong?

Hello folks, the other day i have finally goten all neccesary equipment
to get my sparc ipc running.  for the time being, i cant afford a monitor
for it...so i tried to run tbase10 crossover cable from it to my linux
box.  well my linux box detects its ethernet card..but the problem..i
cant ping, telnet, ftp ect to my sparc.  

i have a feeling that it has something to do with my routing...should i
route thru a gateway? since its only two machines?  i set up the sparc
here at work...and it worked with no problem...so i know everything is ok
there...

linuxb - ip - 198.14.166.1
sparcb - ip - 198.14.166.2

this is how my routing looks:

should it be 198.14.166.251?  any suggestions to what is wrong?
