THE X PROBLEM:
I am currently trying to get a Sun to export it's display to a linux
box. However, the linux box won't let it in.
At first the sun said that there was a problem with Xlib the linux box,
so in inetd.conf I add
Xlib dgram udp wait root internal
Xlib stream tcp nowait root internal
Now the sun says:
XView error: Cannot open connection to window server: <ip address of
linux box> (Server package)
So, back in inetd.conf, 2 more lines were added:
XView dgram udp wait root internal
XView stream tcp nowait root internal
This didn't seem to solve anything.
THE PRINTER PROBLEM
I try to tell the linux box to print to a networked printer that is
* off the sun. In printer configurator, I've told it the IP of
the printer, the location of the spool on both the linux and the sun.
However, when I try to print, it tells me that the daemon is unable to
load. I run lpc and restart the printer. Now when I print, it tells me
that the page has been printed to the queue, but nothing comes out from
the printer.
THE SETUP
The linux box is running Red Hat 5.1, 128MB ram, an ethernet card (which
works just fine), and a P2 333.
On the sun, hosts.allow says my box is welcomed to log on, and the linux
box's hosts.allow says that the sun is likewise welcomed.
If anyone knows what I'm doing wrong, please let me know. I've been
working at this for a couple of weeks now.
thanks
