Hello,

I have a Linux NFS-server and can't boot up to it.

using a boot floppy I get the message...

        NFS server <ip> O.K.
Root-NFS: Got file handle for /path...
        VFS: mounted root (nfs filesystem)
unable to open an initial console

can anyone help me???!!!;)

Hi,

Probably because you didn't set the root nfs during your 'make config' :

NFS filesystem support (CONFIG_NFS_FS) [Y/m/n/?]
Root file system on NFS (CONFIG_ROOT_NFS) [Y/n/?]

Good luck

1. NFS Bootdisk? (& X-Server via NFS)

There is a package in ftp.informatik.tu-muenchen.de:/pub/comp/os/linux/local/network/netboot
called netboot that allows you to boot a PC-Linux based X-Server from the network.
I haven't tried it myself and as far as I know it is beta-ware, but you might like it.
