No criticism concerning my kernel version, I'll get to that when i have
time.
Right now I am having a problem with telnet and POP access to the Linux box.
Everything has been working fine for months and all of a sudden about noon
today, telnet and POP quit working. NO errors in the /var/log/messages file
and oddly enough I get the telnet and POP errors in the /var/log/maillog
file. To the extent of:
Apr 27 12:22:44 linux1 in.telnetd[357]: warning: host name/address mismatch:
192.168.100.126 != proxy.mynetwork.com
Apr 27 12:22:44 linux1 in.telnetd[357]: refused connect from 192.168.100.126
Apr 27 12:22:50 linux1 ipop3d[358]: warning: host name/address mismatch:
192.168.100.126 != proxy.mynetwork.com
Apr 27 12:22:50 linux1 ipop3d[358]: refused connect from 192.168.100.126
(IP addresses have been changed)
There are no signs that system security has been compromised and I am the
only person with root access.
