IP Masquerading under 2.X

IP Masquerading under 2.X

Post by James E. Well » Tue, 01 Oct 1996 04:00:00

I'm pretty sure that this subject has been beaten to death by a
number of people, however, I need to ask it anyway.  I currently have a
number of Linux 2.X machines at home and am in the process of setting up
the firewalling capabilities of 2.X to do some testing, the only problem
is that when I configure the kernel to use IP Masquerading I get the IP
input, output, accounting, and forwarding, but not masquerading.  I have
turned off forwarding/gatewaying and bridging and enabled all of the
firewall options.  When I look into /proc/net I don't see an ip
masquerade process, however i do see all of the other firewall
processes.  Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

IP Masquerading under 2.X

Post by Christian Lehne » Tue, 01 Oct 1996 04:00:00

I set up ip masquerade with 2.0.21 last week an found the following
links very useful:

1. IP for masqueraded net other than masquerading host IP

I have a linux box which should work as router for two subnets to the internet.
One subnet has valid IP addresses but the other subnet with private IPs has to be masqueraded. Is it possible to masquerade this subnet with an IP address from the other subnet or with the IP of the router port which is connected to the valid subnet and not with the IP address of the router port which is connected to the internet which is the default?

2. Bandwidth for a Tatung monitor

3. IP Masquerading works, but does not masquerade from within the local network

4. .html as executable

5. IP MASQuerading NOT Masquerading?

6. ipchains too old?

7. Install Linux through PCMCIA network card

8. Backup scripts, IP firewalling and IP masquerading

9. IP NAT and IP Masquerading

10. IP-Chains vs. IP-Masquerade

11. IP Masquerade , IP Chains

12. proxy route gateway ip masquerading ip chains ?
