A couple of upgrade problems (1.2.13 -> 2.0.0)

Post by Kevin Bento » Tue, 17 Dec 1996 04:00:00

I'm in the process of upgrading from Linux 1.2.13 to 2.0.0 and am having
a couple of issues...

1.  NFS Mounting.  I can mount any time I like from the 2.0.0 machine,
however, from 1.2.13, I can only nfs mount the 2.0.0 machine if it isn't
already mounting drives from the 1.2.13 machine.  We're cross-mounting
to make life simpler, but it is turning out to be more of a hassle than
a work saver.  Does anyone know of anything I can do so that the 1.2.13
machine will be able to mount the 2.0.0 machine regardless of whether or
not it's already mounting the 1.2.13 short of upgrading to 2.0.0 on both
machines?

2.  Named: I copied named.boot, named.rev, and named.hosts (plus our
other naned hosts files) and the hosts file over from our primary dns to
our new (2.0.0) secondary and we are unable to resolve outside our net
with nslookup.  It is also reporting (in nslookup) that its own address
is 0.0.0.0 which is absolutely incorret.  We can ping outside our net no
problem, and do lots of other things, but nslookup isn't working
correctly.

Suggestions on how to repair these situations would be greatly
appreciated.

Kevin

1. strange problems 1.2.13 --> 2.0.0 --> 1.2.13

Hi,

I have some strange problems with the new kernel source tree...

after the installation of the new sysvinit-2.62 the linux-2.0.0 kernel
complains sh:/bin/bash cannot execute...
with 1.99.7 this works fine
and at least I'm totally unable to recompile the 1.2.13 source tree due
some strange asm errors in main occurring in asm/io.h referenced by
bugs.h  (also within the asm tree). Of course I checked the appropriate
links to for the linux source tree /usr/include/linux
                                                asm

Please help....
