Hi all,
I'm trying to install a 3com 3c509B ISA NIC in my
linux box, but.. having frustrating problems.
The 3com module loads ok (of course), and the
system seems to recognize the card and give it an
IO and IRQ. But when networking services are
started up (I'm on a DHCP network), the console
gives me this:
Bringing up interface eth0 (very long pause)
Determining IP information for eth0...Operation
failed
And the syslog gives me this:
ifup: Determining IP information for eth0...
kernel: eth0: Setting Rx mode to 0 addresses.
kernel: eth1: Setting Rx mode to 1 addresses.
(long pause)
kernel: eth0: Setting Rx mode to 0 addresses.
kernel: eth1: Setting Rx mode to 1 addresses.
(long pause)
ifup: Operation failed
ifup: failed.
network: Bringing up interface eth0 failed.
ifdown: Operation failed.
and that's it.. I'm pretty new to this stuff,
so.. I can't really seem to make anything out of
it.
Here's some background info:
Intel PII RedHat 6.1 (kernel v2.2)
Card: 3c509B ISA 10Mbit
Please, help me out! Respond via email if
possible...
Thanks, James Turner
