PPP: Fatal signal 11, Linux 1.3.45

PPP: Fatal signal 11, Linux 1.3.45

Post by Dale Harr » Wed, 06 Dec 1995 04:00:00

Currently, I'm running 1.3.45 ELF, I have had PPP running before in other
kernels successfully.  Now however, it connects all the way, and assigns
the IP number, then immediately dies on a Fatal Signal 11, which I assume
is a segemation violation.  I've seen some similar reports on the Linux
Kernel mailing list.  Anyone know of a fix?

if you dont already have it you need to get ppp-2.2.0a (or above)

if you do have it, i dunno... works for me.

I have the same problem with 1.3.45 ELF and ppp 2.2.0.  Here's the log:
        pppd 2.2.0 started by root, uid 0
        Serial connection established.
        Using interface ppp0
        Connect: ppp0 <--> /dev/cua0
        local  IP address 205.252.80.62
        remote IP address 205.177.25.1
        Fatal signal 11
        Exit.

1. kernel 1.3.45 and PPP

Hi folks;

Just compiled 1.3.45 of kernel.  Needed this for SCSI adapter ....
... BUT PPP decided not to work.

        "Sorry - PPP is not available on this system"

I've config'd several times, trying to pull in other TCP/IP *stuff*
to see if there was a straggling dependency... but to no avail.

Regardless of what I set, PPP refuses to "register" with the kernel.

Please help.
