Linux RH 5.2 Server via Windows NT Workstation

Linux RH 5.2 Server via Windows NT Workstation

Post by Michael Torre » Wed, 30 Dec 1998 04:00:00

I'm using my Linux RH 5.2 as a Internet Server which is connected via a
router using frame relay T1 to my ISP. I have Novell Servers connected on
another router using a private IP network which hosts remote networks on the
LAN/WAN. What I'm having problems giving users on the private network
segment access to the InterNet using Windows NT Workstations 4.0.

Any Suggestions????

1. : Install free X-Windows server on Windows NT Workstation 4.0

Hello,

I have installed Windows NT Workstation 4.0 on my PC, but our server is
a Sun, running Solaris 2.6.
I would like to use my Windows NT computer as a graphics-terminal for
the applications installed on the Sun.
For example, when I start a "Telnet"-session to the server and I want to
start "GhostView", I receive the following error message :

<<<<<<<<<<<< Error message >>>>>>>>>>>>>>

/staff/ftwe/wvpaepeg$ ghostview
ghostview: cannot open DISPLAY.
/staff/ftwe/wvpaepeg$

<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

I am not an experienced Windows NT user, nor a Unix one.
I don't know if there are several possibilities :
- is it possible to define some sort of user in Windows NT who is
authorized to write to the Windows NT screen from a distant location ?
- or is the only possibility to install a X-Windows server on my Windows
NT workstation ? In that case do there exist any free X-Windows servers
which have proven to be reliable ?

Thanks in advance,
With regards,
