RenAttach is an e-mail filter/processor that runs on a mail server. It
is designed to protect end users (particularly those using Windows) from
malicious e-mail attachments containing viruses or trojans. It does NOT
scan specifically for viruses, but rather renames e-mail attachments so
that they can not be accidentally executed. It handles both UU Encoded
and Mime encoded attachments. All incoming mail is instantly,
automatically filtered.
The source code is C++. This is designed to be put in a user's
".forward" file, so in fact root probably does not have to install this.
The program is rather fast and uses little memory during processing.
