Dynamic BOOTPD for LINUX?

Dynamic BOOTPD for LINUX?

Post by Frank K. Mill » Tue, 28 Nov 1995 04:00:00

I'm looking for a version of "bootpd" for Linux that dynamically
assigns IP address to the bootpd clients.  Is one available, and
if so, where is it located?  Also any experiences if you've used
the product would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance, Kelly

Please remember that BOOTP is not designed to support dynamic IP#
allocation. This is DHCP.

There is one. It is called bootp-2.4.3-DD.tar.gz or similar. I can't
remember the original ftp site. Anyway, I have stored both patches
(dhcp and dynamic) on my development site at:

        Host: africa.geomic.uni-oldenburg.de
        Dir: /pub/people/joey/dhcp/bootpd

Please note that there's a serious bug in the original source. This
directory also contains one patch made by me. This corrected the
mentioned bug, but did not include the dynamic-patch, but you should
be able to patch it up.

Have a pleasant day,

        Joey
