Hi.

but my ethernet card can not be found. If anyone has had some experience
with this and know of a driver or whatnot to fix it, please share.

Thanks

More info, please. What manufacturer, what card, what chipset, what io,
which irq, etc., etc.

It's the SMC EtherEZ 8416
IRQ 10
I/O Range 02A0-02BF
Not sure on the chipset and I havn't been able to find out.

Jason,

I have that same card. It comes in three models, depending
on the connectors it has.

     8416 B     BNC connector only
8416 BT   BNC and RJ45 connectors
8416 BTA BNC, RJ45 and AUI (thicknet) connectors

Mine is the 8416BTA but I'm sure they all use the smc-ultra
driver. They're PNP cards, so I used

pnpdump > isapnp.conf

edit the config file and then

isapnp

to set mine up. I had to fiddle with the irq and base io a
bit because it wanted to sit on top of a depca (DEC202) card
I have in the same machine. When you do the pnpdump, the
output will tell you exactly what irqs and ios are supported
by the card. Just alter the appropriate lines one at a time
until you get it to work.

ifconfig eth<n> up

where <n> should be replaced by the number of the interface
you're configuring (usually 0 for eth0), will give an error
message if the settings aren't right; usually an SIOCS-type
error. Once the settings seem to work, try pinging the
card...

dynamic IP, but you can use a static IP for the testing and
then set up the dynamic part afterwards. Feel free to test
with 192.168.0.5 or some such number from the reserved set.
