Sorry, I don't think I can really answer that here.  It's quite
simple, and many people running Linux do it, but it's part
of the whole Linux process, and involves quite a few details best
covered in the install documentation.  Look into one of the standard
distributions (Slackware, for example) and follow the instructions.
CD-ROM installation packages are also available.  They're just one
of the standard distributions all consolidated on a CD-ROM.  They're
cheap and convenient.
