I have just recently trying DIP on my Linuxbox. Suddenly I get this
frustrating message when I try to fire up DIP. 'Host name lookup
failure'. I have checked /etc/hosts, /etc/resolv.conf, /etc/host.conf
about 4hundred times and I can't see anything wrong in them. Can anyone
give me a hint?

Check if your hostname matches what's in /etc/hostname. If not, use:
hostname `cat /etc/hostname`
This was my problem when I saw the same error.

1. dip says 'Host name lookup failure' ???
Hi. I'm trying to get a SLIP connection w/ dip, but dip is basically
refusing to even run. I cannot even go 'dip -t'. It says something like:
lennon.frop.org: Host name lookup failure
Any input will be appreciated. TIA.
