remote boot in diskless station

Hi,

I have a problem configuring diskless remote-boot. Please help me.

The system is RedHat 7.3. Besides, I installed tftp-server, dhcp
server and compiled the kernel with nfs support and nfs root support.
I tested such
components isolated with succesfull.

After this, I generated the bootable floppy disk* and created the root
filesystem to estation**.

* (http://rom-o-matic.org/5.0.7)

But when I try to boot the estation with such diskette I get this
message:

      Loading Boot Record from Floppy..OK
      000021.0000 done
      ROM segment 0x0800 length 0x4000 reloc 0x9400

Do you have any idea about what it happening? Thank you.

Looks not bad, until this point. The DC loads the kernel.

Stick over to www.ltsp.org, there are docs about etherboot/PXE
boot/kernel compiling for DC, which explain the steps, to get it
running. Perhaps try a ltsp kernel before making your own.

Good luck

Thanks a lot! Its worked. But I have one question yet.

Now I have to configure the station. I know I can do that of many
ways, but I will try first as follow. I am right?

1. I will put a HD in a diskless station, configure the linux localy
and copy  directories /etc and /usr to "/opt/ltsp/i386" in the server.

2. I will get off the HD from a diskless station and boot from
network.

Why, do you want to do this? The ltsp packages will do all this for you
and setup / for the DC, it's using the busybox environment.;)
