Dear friends,
I tried to configure my ethernet having the HOWTO's, colleagues and two PCs at
my disposal.
Unfortunately, when I try to "ping " to my other PC, this causes a system
HANGUP. "Pinging" to localhost seems to be ok..
Here's my system configuration:
PC1 (hangup after ping to PC2):
P90,
intel-Plato,
PCI NCR x538,7 SCSI-2
PCI Spea Mercury 2Mb P64
Advanced GUS
28K8 modem at cua3
PCI E2000 (NE2000 clone) Ethernet Card.
SCSI-2 CDROM
SCSI Tape
SCSI-2 Disk (2x)
Linux 2.0.29 (both "SCSI net", and manually configured kernels crash)
IP 111.112.113.111
PC2:
Intel 386, 33 MHz
ide,
Sony cdu31a
ISA NE2000
Trident 512K
Linux 2.0.29 ("IDEnet" kernel)
IP 111.112.113.112
-------------------------------------------
I also tried an old ISA dec100 card for PC1 with the same result. This seems
very strange to me since it's not a PCI but an ISA card !!
Trying to "ping" from PC2 to PC2 doesn't work either (doesn't show anything)
but this can be interupted by a ^C from the keyboard..
Do you have any ideas why the kernel crashes and how I could prevent this from
happening ?
Thanks,,
Erwin
