DHCP Daemon Not Running

Using Mandrake 8.0
I check system services and the dhcp daemon is not running.
How do I enable it as it should be automatic?

First check to make sure that it is installed, and then if possible, check to
see whether or not Mandrake actually provides a "chkconfig" command.  From
there, you should be able to specify something like:

"chkconfig -level 2345 dhcpd on"

You may have to issue a command: "chkconfig --list | grep dhcp" to find the
correct name for it.

See ya

DHCP Daemon Not Running

OK Deano, should have known you would be the one to reply - Thanks!

Here's what I get with chkconfig --level 2345 dhcpd on as root:

Here's output of chkconfig --list | grep dhcp :
        dhcpd           0:off   1:on    2:on    3:on    4:on    5:on    6:on

So, I'm assuming that this is telling me that program is installed.

Moving on to the next email to respond.

1. "bootpd" daemon not running .....

Hi,
I have problem trying to run "bootpd" daemon on this machine. I did a
"kill -HUP inetd_pid", it would give me this error,

  May 24 19:20:25 celthybfst1 inetd[133]: config: 100083/rpc/tcp still
active and was not reconfigured.

This error indicate that the system failed to reread the
"/etc/inetd.conf". I even rebooted the machine, it still gives me this
error.

I always did that to restart the "bootpd", and it worked. Somehow this
machine behave strangely. Why ??

So, I need your valuable advice to this issue.

  Thanks.

Regards,
Francis.
