Very Computer

I've been trying to get my intel etherexpress 16 to work in my pentium 60
at school.. I recompiled the kernel to support it, and I even found a
diagnostic program called eexpress.c which checked everything out ok..
but when i try to ping,nslookup,telnet, etc.. i get nothing. it just sits
there and can't connect to anything. Any ideas?
