Someone posted a question regarding the 3Com 3c509b NIC card a while back.
My server no longer has that post. But if anyone knows how to get it to
work let me know. Redhat 6.1 linux.

Download the self-extracting etherdisks from 3com[1] and extract them.
Turn off PnP and assign a free IRQ and IO address to the card with
3c5x9cfg.exe.

Alternatively you can use Donald Becker's linux util[2]. Be careful with
that util though because it's easy to*it up.

Once PnP is off you can just do "insmod 3c509" to load the driver.
To load the driver automagically at boot time, stick it in /etc/modules.

This is one of the best-supported NIC's in the world. Use the config utility
3c5x9cfg from the EtherDisk that came with the card (you still have that,
don't you?) to turn PnP off and set the IO and IRQ you'd like to use. Then,
if the card is not detected automagically, you might need to add a line to
/etc/conf.modules reading "alias eth0 3c509".
