ISDN + DIAL-IN +MULTIPOINT question

Post by MC » Mon, 31 Mar 2003 18:29:14

Hi,

Recenty, I had run ISDN connection from my server (Linux Debian with 2.4.20
kernel) to peers. The only problem I have is to run this connection with
multipoint option (PPP version 2.3.20) to have 2B ISDN channels up. Now, I`m
able to connect with one channel, only. I hope you understand what I want to
say, because my english isn't very good.....

/etc/ppp/options:

Are you using an external TA (aka "ISDN modem") or an internal ISDN
adapter?  (Hint: if it's the former, then you have a chat script
somewhere with "AT" commands in it.)

Quote:> 115200

That line makes this look like a TA connection.  If that's true, then
you likely don't want multilink support in pppd at all.  Instead, you
want to turn on multilink support in the TA itself.  See the
manufacturer's reference manual for that device.  It's some magic "AT"
command(s).

Quote:> Mar 30 10:35:44 main pppd[6615]: sent [LCP ConfReq id=0x1 <asyncmap 0x0>

You ask for PPP Multilink operation.

Quote:> Mar 30 10:35:44 main pppd[6615]: rcvd [LCP ConfRej id=0x1 <mrru
> 1500>]

The peer refuses.

If you're really using ISDN without an async link, then you're sunk.
The peer doesn't like to do Multilink PPP with you.

If you're using a TA, then go reconfigure that part via the chat
script.

(Why did you say "noendpoint" in your pppd configuration?  The LCP
Endpoint Discriminator option is an important part of proper multilink
operation.)

I`m using external TA (TAS400E) on serial port.

Does it mean that I don have to put "multilink" option in my
/etc/ppp/options ? I put some AT (ATB41) command to init string, and my
modem after ATI command said that it is in MLPPP mode.

main:/home/somebody# who

somebody     pts/2        Mar 30 22:33 (acpik153:S.0)

Do I need to change mrru in ppp deamon configuration ? I remove "noendpoint"
option from my configuration file and I got this:

Mar 31 08:59:03 main pppd[5292]: using channel 4
Mar 31 08:59:03 main pppd[5292]: sent [LCP ConfReq id=0x1 <asyncmap 0x0>
<auth pap> <magic 0x9f0fb930> <mrru 1500> <endpoint

Mar 31 08:59:03 main pppd[5292]: rcvd [LCP ConfRej id=0x1 <mrru 1500>
<endpoint [MAC:00:01:03:33:13:49]>]

I wonder if you can tell me why MAC address is bad idea for endpoint
discriminator, and what should I put thete instead.

Perhaps this will help you, my mgetty_log

1. Problems with dialing out when dial-ins are enabled

I'm having trouble getting dial-outs to work when dial-ins are
enabled.  I can dial out on /dev/cua1 when getty isn't running
on /dev/ttyS1, but when getty is running I get a message that
the port I'm trying to dial-out on (/dev/cua1) is in use.  I
read the FAQs and everything seems to be set up right.  What
am I doing wrong?

[I'm running SLS 1.02 (0.99pl9).]
