NAMED: XSTATS/NSTATS

quick question: is there any way to stop named from generating
'XSTATS' and 'NSTATS' into one of my log files? this is the named from
the BETA24 bind distribution for ELF. do i need to get the source and
recompile to turn this off or have i missed this option in some
documented place?

cheers, b.

Turn them OFF?  Nay, I say!  I wouldn't dream of it.

Best to write a script to tell you if everything's ok, based on
those messages.  A quick grep and awk should do the job.

Besides, previous BINDs sent messages.

speak for yourself--i want them gone.

as the messages mean nothing to me, nor do they seem to be documented
in any place i've yet come across, the above would be pointless.

none of my previous experience with bind has included the messages in
question, and judging by e-mail i've received, i'm not the only one
who would like them to disappear and/or be explained.

to follow up here to my own post, i've solved the problem by
compiling the source to BETA26 (my BETA24 binary was from a binary-only
distribution). in the file conf/options.h you can turn off the
generation of these stats messages (on by default).

What does XStats and Nstats mean? I couldn't find any information
about that in my bind book...

TIA
