Very Computer

Hi!
I just bought me a new modem (Askey 1428VQH-R Data+Fax Internal Modem)
and jumpered it to be com3. The problem is, that linux doesn't operate
properly with it. Sometimes it won't dial, sometimes you can hear that
a connection is being built up, but nothing more happens.
I still use a ppp-script that has worked properly so far, and I've
checked the AT-strings, but I can't figure out, what the problem seems
to be?
Does anybody know what to do?

To me, this sounds like irq-conflict. Have you checked out irqs which
are in use before you added that card. Another possibility is your
vga-card. There is some, older, vga-cards not liking com3 serial
port. If I remember it right, there is an io-address conflict between
those.
