Greetings,
Please excuse the newbie post: I have read the posts about smp
and unfortunately they don't answer my question. I have lurked in this
group for a couple days and I have not seen my question come up so I
thought I would post. As you can tell I am new to Linux so any help would
be greatly appreciated.
I currently have a dual p-166 system running on 4.2 with smp. I
want to move up to 5.0 (Red-hat) but I don't have the slightest idea how
to set up smp support. Does Linux 5.0 have an option for smp support
during the set up? If not, do I need to compile the first kernel and then
recompile with smp? I don't have any idea how to go about this. I am
sure this is a basic question but I have not seen any documentation that I
can make use of and I probably don't know what questions to ask to get the
correct documentation. If anyone can't point me to a url that has a step
by step procedure for this or a detailed explanation of the process it
would be greatly appreciated. I *don't* want to go back to a Microsoft
OS, Windows seems dead now that I have some time with Linux.
Many Thanks in Advance,
-Brad
