Problems in XFree86-3.3.5

Post by Jan Hage » Sun, 31 Dec 1899 09:00:00

I have the following problems in XFree86-3.3.5:

1. Bad resolution (only 640x480 in 16 colors). I have a Creative TNT2 Ultra
card.
2. Can't get my dvd/cd-rom to work. Have a Samsung 606 dvd-rom.
3. Can't get my soundcard to work. I have a SB 16 or 32 AWE isa-card.

Can someone help me?

Try XF86Setup. Helps to have your monitor specs.

Dunno (don't own one).

Which distro? If RH based, have you tried sndconfig? These SB cards have
been well supported for sometime now.

What does the "Screen" section of /etc/X11/XF86Config that applies to
your X server look like?

How are these XFree86 problems?

You'll need to provide much more information if you want anyone to be
able to help you.

In what way does your CD-ROM not work? Does the kernel not recognize it?
Can you simply not mount it? Have you got support compiled into your
kernel?

In what way does your soundcard not work? Does the kernel not recognize
it? Does trying to play sound through it report errors to the syslog?
Have you got support compiled into your kernel?

Oh, and *find out* what type of soundcard you have. If *you* don't know
what it is, how is anyone else supposed to help?
