Getting rid of LILO

Post by Aamer Sachedin » Fri, 01 Dec 1995 04:00:00

I need to get rid of LILO from my hard disk.  I have tried
fdisk /mbr in dos.
This gets rid of LILO allright but now when I try to boot the system I
get a bunch of error beeps and a message saying "NO ROM BASIC, SYSTEM
HALTED"

I would appreciate any suggestions.

Thanks in advance,
-Aamer

P.S. E-mail is appreciated

I have the same problem, yet no solution. Only difference: "PRESS ANY KEY TO
REBOOT" in an infinite loop.

*Ack* It appears the first reply didn't work quite right...

Check to make sure that the disk which is jumpered to be master has a
partition set to active.  That error had me looking for places to buy
a replacement bios since I had no other idea what a rom error could
be...

>Looks like you harddisk did not have any system files..try to boot

Also have you made the dos partition bootable (active) ? Run fdisk again and make
that partition active.
