Linux ignores <Ctrl><Alt><Del> ???

Post by John Kel » Fri, 13 Jan 1995 08:40:23

I just installed Slackware on a 486/33DX, and most everything
works great (SLIP, XFree, etc.), but there are just a few
shutdown problems:

1. Linux won't recognise the "Three Finger Salute" of <Ctrl><Alt><Del>, and

2. No matter what options I give to 'shutdown' it just responds with
        a usage line.

Which leaves me the rather inelegant cold boot in times of trouble.
Can anyone give me some suggestions as to where I might start looking?

Check /etc/inittab.

Try "man shutdown".

Any chance you're using the right (as in not left) control and alt keys?
Later kernels have those disabled by default (you have to edit the keyboard
map in order to activate it).  Try the left control-alt.
