pppd does not like softnet free

Post by Adam Hamflet » Fri, 19 Feb 1999 04:00:00

I have connected to the internet using freeserve. But this is slow and
crap.
I want to be able to connect to softnet. I do not have the dns number
but i can get that. My main problem is when i run pppd demon i connect,
get a value in ifconfig but when i run route its just hangs.

I run pppd with defaultroute. If i do not use this then it connects
fine, but the route values seem to be wrong.

Does anyone else use soft net and have any idea. The dns number as well
would be helpful as technical help is expensive :(.

1. Free unix-likes

Abundance of free unix-like OS on the
net often makes choice difficult. Trying
out even the few most popular is unfearsible
as it takes quite a long time to discover
all pluses and minuses of any particular OS.
Home sites of most free OS carefully avoid
direct comparision to others.

Is there a universal rating for free OS
in most important areas like IT, security,
productivity, internationalization etc.?
