Best way to increase disk space?

Best way to increase disk space?

Hi:
I've successfully install linux on my existing DOS partition in my
laptop(omnibook 5500) via UMSDOS.  However, I found linux really
swallowed a lot of space in this format( about 240 MB for only X
windows, gcc, gf77, and some required files installed).  What I'm
thinking is to buy a super floppy device, such as Syquest EZFlyer250, or
Monai 540(now they have Monai750) to give linux additional space.

So I am thinking about the driver problem.  Both of those device have
Parallel and SCSI version.  Parallel is easy to use and give me the
chance to exchange data with other machines without SCSI card.  SCSI is
fast but I need to go though SCSI + PCMCIA for my laptop.  I really
don't know which way is more maturelly supported by linux?

Anyone can give me a hint or has knowledge about the performance of
this configuration will be appreciated.

Thank you very much

Puck

You'd waste alot less space if you used a native linux partition. MS
partitions use those big ugly clusters.

1. Best ways to increase the security of my linux box

Can anyone tell me how I should go about securing my linuyx box
from hackers or other potential threats?  What things are out there that
come with the standard slackware bvuild that should be secured?  Programs
that may test weaknesses of my box?  Any and all advice is needed.  Im
trying to keep away from making my box a firewall, but advice in that sort
and recommendations are greatly appreciated.  Thanks in advance.
