help: libbfd-2.12.so has 0 byte

For some unexplainable raeson the libary:
libbfd-2.12.so on my system has 0 bytes.

This causes me some trouble, espescially, as I can't recompile the package
binutils which would provide that libary.

Some programs don't compile and I can't strip binaries and libaries.

So I really need that libary.

It would be a great helb if somebody could send me an copy of that libary
compiled  for i686, best with gcc-2.95.3 (20010315).

I'd be also thankfull for any advice how to get that libary back (I don't
use a package manager - I build my system from scratch.)
