What is cc1plus?

What is cc1plus?

Post by Simon Hampto » Thu, 07 May 1998 04:00:00

I'm trying to compile one of the examples from Qt and run into the
following error:

gcc -c -O2 -fno-strength-reduce -Wall -W -I/usr/X11R6/include
-I/usr/lib/qt/include -o hello.o hello.cpp
gcc: installation problem, cannot exec `cc1plus': No such file or
directory
make: *** [hello.o] Error 1

I have found a large file called cc1 and created a symbolic link to
cc1plus in the same directory.  This allowed me to compile, but I then
got 1001 error messages which seems unlikely as this is an example
program.

Where could I be going wrong?

Simon

While gcc and g++ are just the frontends cc1 and cc1plus are the
"real" C and C++ compiler backends.

Well, of course since you used the C compiler with C++ code, no go.

1. gcc compiler doesn't find cc1plus.....

Hello everyone,
I have a problem concerning the GNU C++ compiler....
I'm working on SGI Indigo, and I have a built in compiler called CC
but I'm a little fed up with it, so I wanted to try and use gcc (which is
installed on the
machine - ver 2.7.2), unfortunately - when compiling a file, it notifies me
that it cannot
find the file cc1plus showing the following error message:
gcc: installation problem, cannot exec `cc1plus': No such file or directory

before I did anything irrational or irreversible, I didn't want to interrupt
the calm and quiet life of our admin guy, so I tried to install a new
version of gcc on my account's directory -
to no avail, It just didn't produce the executables needed....
is there anything I could do to corect the problem on the old version???

thanx whoever replies...

                                                            Guy
