Need help adding tape drive

Post by Frank Humme » Thu, 12 Nov 1998 04:00:00

Hello,
I have an IDE TR4 that I added to my existing Linux server.  I cannot seem
to see or mount it.  I ran MAKEDEV and added qic drvs, but BRU still does
not see.
Any ideas?

Thanks,
frank

You will likely need ftape-4.02, available at your favorite sunsite
mirror.  It also comes with good documentation and nifty-neato utils.
A quick review of the linux-tape mailing list will also prove
helpful.

Need help adding tape drive

Kurt,
Since the last message, I have gotten the tape to work(thanks to help from
various replys).  I have one weird problem left:
I can address the tape unit from command line. ie:. bru -cvf /dev/ht0 /etc
so on.  The problem is 1) only the last backup is recognised, which shoots a
tape rotation.  2) xbru does not work at all.

Thanks for your reply,
Frank

re #2 --> xbru only works for root.
