Diamond Stealth 64 964Chip Black Screen

Post by Czyz-M » Sun, 10 Dec 1995 04:00:00

Help!   When starting X, I get a black screen with the mouse pointer
visable and not moving.

I have a Stealth 64 chipset:964. I'm using the S3 server.  I do not get
any errors on the startup.

However, when I use the SVGA server, all of the functions work, but I do
not get a res higher than 320x300.

I have a Relisys RE1420 monitor.

Help!

You say that you can get 320x300 using SVGA.  Bring up SVGA and try

<ctrl><alt>"+"  and/or <ctrl><alt>"-"
to cycle through your configured (and working) resolutions.  If you can
change the mode up to 1024x or 1280x, then you just have to edit one
either your /etc/XF86Config or your user-specific defaults to select the
proper mode.  Which one / how do you do this?  I don't know; I've never
had to.  Anyone else know?

HELP!  I'm getting a black screen with a visable mouse which does not move.
With the SVGA server, everything works but I can't get a res higher than
320x300.

My monitor is a Relisys RE1420.   In windows I have to use the IBM8514
Diamond driver for my display to work.

What should I be using?  Is my Monitor setting right?
