Hallo !

Don't worry too much, I have the same problems with my Pentium-board,
my Sony 17se1T monitor and the ATI Xpression (mach 64) PCI 2 MB DRAM
graphic card.

Yours, Bernd!

I have the exact same ATI card as you mention here.  After several
attempts I finally was able to get it configured correctly for XF86.
Here's what I recommend doing:

1. Get the newest version of XFree86, which is 3.1.2A <--notice the A
This beta build supports the ATI Mach64 Graphic XPression w/
the max. number of currently supported RAMDACs, of which ATI
seems to have made a lot of.  3.1.2A includes support for the
ATT20C408 RAMDAC.  Make sure you get the XF86_Mach64
    accelerated server.  (try ftp://ftp.XFree86.com)

2. Run xf86config.  Check your monitor specs in your manual.  You
only need to know your horizontal and vertical synchronization
    ranges, (i.e., H 31-65Hz, V 55-100 for my NEC MultiSync XV17)
Make sure you specify the accel server, and the Mach64 server.
When it asks you for RAMDAC and CLOCKSET just hit return
to ignore. In the screens section, order the video modes in the
order of your personal preference, i.e., "1024x768" "800x600"
"640x480", as opposed to the default which is in the opposite
order.  Once X does start correctly it will default to the first
    value.

3. Before starting X, edit the /etc/XF86Config file.  Under the
    video card section, add
    Option "program_clocks"

4. Save and run startx.

This method worked for me, and I hope it does for you as well.

I have a new ATI CT Mach 64 video card (PCI), and I can't figure out how
to configure it. Has anyone else had any luck with this card?
Unforunately, it's not listed in the

I have tried several configurations using the xf86config program without
any luck, as well as running X -probeonly, which returns "None of the
configured devices were detected"

SuperProbe hangs the machine.

The machine is a new Gateway 2000 P-120 with 16MB RAM. The card shipped
standard with the machine with 2MB DRAM. (but not much documentation ;) )

I'm running Linux 1.2.13 most of the time for stability, but I've also
tried booting into 1.3.42, with the same results. XFree86 version 3.1.2

Thanks,
-AJD

Go get XFree86 3.1.2A from ftp://ftp.xfree86.org and it may solve your
problems.

1. Help: XF86Config for ATI Mach64 PCI & MAG DX17F

I've created XF86Configs for both Trident cards and S3 cards, but this time
nothing seems to work! The screen just goes blank and the only thing that
works is Ctrl+Alt+Del... :-(

Can someone help me with a XF86Config that works with the ATI Mach64?
My card is a ATI Graphics Ultra Pro Mach64 PCI with 2MB.

Thanks in advance.
