Danpex EN-2000 (NE-2000) clone is killing me... please help

Post by Tom Yo » Thu, 20 Jun 1996 04:00:00

Linux will not detect my adapter on startup.

I have a Danpex En-2000 ethernet adapter.  I have successfully tested
this adapter in DOS without error.

I have also downloaded Donald Beckers ne2k.c utility to test for the
presence of the adapter.  ALL WORKS FINE.  The adapter even returns
the 0x57 signature for NE-2000 and compatible boards.

I have recompiled the kernel with ne2000 support.

Lilo Linux boot param = ether=12,0x320,eth0

Adapter config:
        Irq     12
        IO      0x320

Any suggestions? ... I know, I know, I'll go get the knife ...

Thanks
Tom York

1. NE-2000 clone

I have a NE-2000 clone (called GE-2000) wich is configured
at IRQ 10 and Base address 0x300. Unfortunately, Linux refuses
to use these settings, instead it uses IRQ 5 and 0x280.
I don't know how to fix this. I've tried to change it with ifconfig
without sucess.
IRQ 5 is used by the soundboard. (Sb16)
I am also using a ADAPTEC AHA1520B SCSI-board. I don't know about this
but a friend told me he had experienced problems using SCSI-boards
and ethernet cards at the same time.
I'm running the Debian 1.1 version
I would appreciate any help.
