After installing Linux 5.0, I cannot get Linux to boot.  Something is
writing a series of "01"s to the screen as follows:

01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01
01 01
 01  01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01
01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01
01 01 01 01 01
 01  01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01
01 01 01 ...

Does anyone have any ideas.

Thanks in advance - Bob Heath

Been there...done that!  LILO also trashed my drive everytime too.

I had this same problem when I first tried Linux (a few weeks ago).  I
tracked the problem down to LILO not recognizing my SCSI drive.  For some
reason LILO absolutely refuses to read my drive.  I finally gave up on LILO.
I re-complied the kernel and used the new version to create a boot disk.

I never did figure out why LILO can't access my drive though???  Everything
else can see it.
