NEC 160 SCSI == Trantor SCSI T160??

Post by Robert Stockma » Wed, 18 Jan 1995 02:08:54

hello,

A couple of days ago I tried to install Linux (infomagic's Oct. '94
release) on the following system:

Vobis 486 DX2 66, VLB/ISA, 16 Mb ram,
1 IDE drive (unknown), 1 EIDE (IDE mode) WD AC 2540 (540Mb) caviar (new)
NEC 3x CDROM drive with a NEC CD160 SCSI hostadaptor.

This NEC SCSI adaptor is not recognized by any of the boot-disks for scsi
Also the latest scsi boot disks from ftp.infomagic.com don't work.

However under DOS i noticed the following: The SCSI adaptor card was
fired up with a Trantor T160/T260 SCSI driver for Dos...

I'm almost desperate trying to install Linux...
Any Trantor of NEC scsi specialists outthere?

Any Info will help!

Robert

We should all start a club. I have not been able to get any of the boot
kernels to recognize my Trantor T160 Controller either.

I have been told by Linux gray heads that a list of SCSI controller
compatibility exists somewhere. I have not found it yet

Thanks for any help,

Dan Woods

I have the Slackware Professional Linux User's Guide published by Morse Telecommunication. It includes the Howto on SCSI. The Howto lists the supported SCSI adapters. Trantor 160 aka NEC CD160 is not on the list. Sigh...

1. NEC 4xi and Trantor 160 SCSI card?

I just installed an NEC 4Xi CD and its accompanying SCSI adaptor, a
Trantor 160.  Does anyone know where I can get a patch or driver for this
card?  I'm at my wit's end.

Thanks,

Ken
