???? gs/Epson Stylus Color II WEIRD output...!

THIS I wouldn't have believed...

I finally got my gs4.03 to compile, and made it with the stcolor driver
so I could print on our Epson Stylus Color II.  However, I run with the
following commands and when I'm done I don't get my nice pretty letter out
on paper but line after line of postscript TEXT commands.  What gives,
can anyone help?

/usr/local/share/ghostscript/4.03/gs -sDEVICE=stcolor -dNOPAUSE \
-dMicroweave -sDithering="gsmono" -q -sOutputFile=last-day.print \
last-day.ps

and then:

lpr last-day.ps

am just learning how to use this dratted slrn and can't guarantee I'll
be able to find anything.

Thank you!

Did you really typed "lpr last-day.ps"????
Then of course it your printer will print the content of this file, which
in turn is nothing else then plain ASCII.

Nathan and others who responded to my Stylus Color post...

Thanks very much for all your input.  As a couple of folks pointed out,
what I needed to do was remove a default filter from my /etc/printcap
file; once it was set up to send raw data to the printer, it worked just
fine.

I apologize for the stupid typing error, by the way.  I was (just) bright
enough to be typing "last-day.print" on the command line, but copied it
wrong into the editor.

Thanks again... I'm glad this one is solved!

Best,

1. GS mode for Epson Stylus Color 800 ???

Hi!

I just recently got my new printer.  It was easy to set up the
magicfilter so that I can print anything I want.  But the highest
resolution I got was 360x180.  Like this:
 /usr/bin/gs -dSAFER -dNOPAUSE -sPAPERSIZE=a4 -r360x180 -sDEVICE=epsonc

If I write anything higher than that, like -r360x360 or so, the
printer output is distorted or completely garbled.  So I am wondering
whether it's at all possible to get it to print at a higher resolution.
The printer supports up to 1440x1440.

Thanks a lot in advance,
 Andy.
