That's a tar archive.  Just do

tar -xvf filename.tar

to extract the contents.  I would recommend doing a
"tar -tvf filename.tar" first to check the directory structure
in the tar file so you can see from where you should extract
the files.  Some people package tars of just the files without
any leagin directories and it can be a little annoying if you
get hundreds of files dumping out into the / dir...

How to Install with file ending *.tar

Post by Stanley Cha » Mon, 22 Mar 1999 04:00:00

Hello!

How to Intall with a file ending *.tar

Thanks in advance!

1. Problem with mksysb:tar:Reached end-of-file before expected.

Hello World,

mksysb fails to make a backup on 8mm. After copying some hours
stdout says

and stderr

The tar doesn't always fail at the same point. Is it possible that
the tape is full? My .fs_size reads

and mksysb seems to backup from last to first fs.

Any help would be appreciated!
