lilo non-graphical mode

lilo non-graphical mode

Post by m0ng » Sat, 20 Oct 2001 20:48:11

I've recently installed VMware on my machine and have run into a
problem...
After doing everything that came to mind I did the honorable thing...I
read the freaking manual (rtfm)  :)
The installation manual says: "When selecting a boot loader, use LILO
with text menu. Do not use the
graphical version of LILO. It causes the virtual machine to hang." and
guess what...that's one of the problems that I'm experiencing.

Now, I've looked through the man pages and HOWTOs for LILO, but don't
seem to find anything to guide me. Can anyone get me pointed in the
right direction???

Many TIA,
m0ng0

Yeah, just comment out the line in your /etc/lilo.conf that says
message=/boot/message.  Then type in lilo as root.

Delete or move /boot/message, and either remove/comment out the
"message=/boot/message" line in /etc/lilo.conf, or make your own text
message.

1. Non-graphical email programs

Could someone help me find a non-graphical mail program, or one that
may already have come with my debian system. I tryed using mail, but
it doesn't want to send my messages, and it seems to be really hard to
use. If anybody could help me with either using mail or downloading a
different mail program, I would appreciate it. My system is running
bash shell and it is the debian os. Thanks in advance...
