Does RedHat use rc.inet1 * rc.inet2 for its TCP setup

Sorry If this post is a duplicate but my ISP is using NT so....

I used to have Slackware on my 386 and had to setup a loopback TCP network
using the rc.inet files and friends.  I was given a copy of RedHat and some
old hardware and decided to set up a network (HTTPD) server for W95
clients.  I installed the RedHat v4. and was impressed with its ease of
setup and the fact that it had everything set up for me.  However, when I
was ready to set my IP and Netmask info I couldn't find the files I was
accustomed to using.

Does RedHat differ from Slackware in its TCP setup?  Does it have a single
config file or did the install just not create these files?  Also, I found
a file ifcfg in
/etc/sysconfig/Network-Scripts/ that I believe is the file setting the
loopback information.  But, I can't find any documentation about this file.
Or any good Step by Step info on RedHat's TCP config.  Thanks in advance.

/etc/rc.d has the boot information.

in there you'll see directories with names like rc3.d.  they have
links in them which are executed in order, and point to scripts
in /etc/rc.d/init.d

do man init for info on this.

The /etc/rc.d/init.d/network script fires up the network.

some paramters are in /etc/sysconfig/network.

in /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts there are config scripts
like ifcfg-lo which is run by ifup to start loopback.

suggest you run xwin as root.  call up the program control-panel.

run the network config program from there.

add a bogus ethernet interface and some routing.

Then look in /etc/sysconfig/network and /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts
and see what's changed.

1. Where's RedHat rc.inet1, rc.inet2 files??

The Slackware distrubution has the following files for building an
Intranet:

/etc/HOSTNAME
/etc/hosts
/etc/host.conf
/etc/resolv.conf
/etc/rc.d/rc.inet1
/etc/rc.d/rc.inet2.

The RedHat 5.1 distrubution has all of the above, except for:

/etc/resolv.conf
/etc/rc.d/rc.inet1
/etc/rc.d/rc.inet2

I cannot find these 3 files anywhere in the RedHat distribution.  Where
would these files be in RedHat 5.1?

                         Thanks,
