A while ago messages quit appearing in /var/adm/messages. I'm not sure
what I did to cause this. When I startup and do a ps, syslogd isn't
running. I also can't run it manually. Any ideas?

This is probably a result of a misconfigured network on your system.
Check your network settings manually or rerun netconfig to correct the
problem.

1. trimming /var/adm/messages & /var/adm/syslog
Is there any program out there that will help keep my messages & syslog
files at a reasonable size? I was thinking about writing a shell script
to remove any lines from more than five days ago, but I thought I would
ask if something was available before going through the trouble.
Thanks.
